After a whole month of digging, we are getting ready to close up. Today, we took final photos of the areas we excavated, brought down the equipment, and started on registering and packing the finds. Taking inventory is next so we know what we have and what we would need for the next season.
This is not the official photo, but is one of the surprises of the season. A wall originally thought to be Roman turned out to be Iron Age II. Not earth-shattering but helped in finding out the outlines of one of the 8th century houses. Several outcomes like this were the results of our work and they helped in defining the shape and extent of the Israelite/Judahite settlement at Tell Halif.
